The Day After

So, we didn’t just lose the presidency, we lost the senate too. And chances are we will lose the house as well! ๐Ÿ˜Ÿ Go project 2025. ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

In his last term, he did what he promised (except for the wall): tax cuts for the wealthy (Reagan’s trickle-down economics) and overturning of Roe v. Wade (probably mostly for his evangelical supporters). He also missed on repealing the ACA, but that wasn’t because of lack of trying.

This time his main promises have been revenge and retribution, and tariffs. Plus, of course, more tax cuts for the wealthy, and national ban on abortion (although he mostly avoided the explicit mention of this one). Of these, I think that America can eventually recover from the latter ones. What I am the most concerned about is the first one, because it will be a direct assault on Democracy. He has already talked about military tribunals, that the “enemy from within” is worse than Russia and China, that to deal with the “enemy from within”, if needed, one should use the military, and that Adam Schiff and Nancy Pelosi are some of his perceived “enemies from within.” If he didn’t put Hillary Clinton in jail last time, it wasn’t because he didn’t try to. But because there were some adults in the room that explained to him that there should be convincing evidence and a conviction by a jury before you can do that. This time there won’t be any adults in the room. It will be only Steven Miller, Jeffery Clark, and Steve Bannon, who will even further encourage him to eliminate his political rivals.

And don’t get me wrong and say “politicians deserve it.” He won’t stop at politicians.
