The News May Be Stale, But the Irony Is Fresh

Dec 3, 2024, South Korea (the First Republic was established in 1948):

Lawmakers in South Korea unanimously voted to lift a controversial martial law, which was declared by President Yoon Suk Yeol earlier on Tuesday, reversing a dramatic event that shook the nation.

Yes, the vote was unanimous, not along the party lines.

And yes Mr Matt Gaetz and Ms Marjorie Taylor Greene: it’s “martial law” not “Marshal law.”

Nov 14, 2024, United States (the Constitution was ratified in 1788):

In an MSNBC appearance at the Capitol, Rep. Troy Nehls (R-TX) emphasized party unity under Trump: “There’s no question he’s the leader of our party,” Nehls said. “So now he’s got a mission statement, and his mission, his goals and objectives – whatever that is – we need to embrace it. All of it. Every single word. If Donald Trump says jump three feet high and scratch your head,” Nehls continued, “We all jump three feet high and scratch our heads. That’s it.”

Start practicing jumping Mr Congressman! cause I suspect you will be jumping a lot over the next few years.
